THE VIVAIO BICOCCA: THE SYMBOL OF THE RESTART
The wellbeing of the individual is the main objective of the restart of the University of Milan-Bicocca, which aims to offer students, staff and citizens a healthy and stimulating place where people can reach and maintain their personal potential in society. The Vivaio is not only a ‘nursery’ for biodiversity, plant breeding and the promotion of ecosystem services, but also a place to develop new ideas, devise new projects, address complex issues and above all develop constructive relationships.
This place will therefore be central to interactive and integrated education, multidisciplinary research and citizen involvement in participatory projects according to the principles of ‘Innovative and Responsible Research’, RRI.
THE VIVAIO BICOCCA MASCOT: THE FIRECREST
Among the bird species first recorded in the Vivaio Bicocca, the firecrest (Regulus ignicapilla) certainly stands out. Although this passerine bird is the smallest in the whole Western Palaearctic (only 5 g in weight), its plumage is striking and its acute calls and songs are easily identifiable, even at long distances.
